Northern Lights 1999
Northern lights or aurora borealis appear when charged particles emanating from solar storms interact with Earth's magnetic field. The particles are funneled toward Earth's polar regions which is why auroras are only visible there. The most impressive displays seem to happen in the wee hours of the morning.
