Fjarðrárgljúfur Canyon
Yet another amazing sight to see in south Iceland is Fjarðrárgljúfur Canyon. Erosion has sculpted the canyon walls into unusual shapes. Speaking of unusual shapes, the letter "ð" in the word "Fjarðrárgljúfur" is the old english letter "eth" that is shaped something like a "d" with the top of the "d" curved inward and crossed. "eth" is common in Icelandic words and has a soft "th" sound when pronounced. Can you pronounce "Fjarðrárgljúfur?" I can't.
